Racing Season Has Begun!!

Hey all!

Welcome to the first of the 2011 installments of Advanced Automotive Racing.

We began our winters rest shortly after the Pomona Finals in mid November and before we knew it, it was time for our first race of the new season.

The racing kicked off at our local track, Speedworld Dragstrip, where they hosted the NHRA National Open. Driving the Camaro, Kayla was entered both Stock/Super Stock combo and the Pro ET class.

The year began with a great start when Kayla made it to the final rounds in both classes on Sunday! It was a thrilling experience, especially after battling starter troubles all weekend long.

The Pro final was a battle of the ladies as Kayla was lined up against Kim Zimmerman. In a double-breakout contest, Kim came out the victor. There was still one more shot at winning a coveted "Wally" trophy. In the Stock/Super Stock combo final Kayla faced her engine builder and talented racer, Tibor Kadar. Unfortunately, the final went to Tibor. It was a bittersweet day; bitter in two runner-up finishes, but sweet in making it to two final rounds the first race of the year. All in all a total of 11 rounds was won in the Camaro that day...not a bad way to start the year!

In mid February we competed in the season opening Division race here in Chandler, AZ at Firebird Int'l. Raceway. After a little over a year of sitting out, Joe was able to come out with a bang! In his first round match up he was lined up against Dean Carter. He made his best run of the weekend with a 6.99 elapsed time. The race was won on the starting line when Joe ripped off a PERFECT (.000) light and was able to take the holeshot win! It was a fantastic way to start the year. Joe currently sits 3rd in points for Division 7.

We head to Las Vegas, NV March 25-27 and April 1-3 for both the Divisional and National events. Joe will be competing in Comp and Kayla in Stock. We hope to report back with good news! Hopefully "Lady Luck" will be on our side!

That's a Wrap!

Well, we're back from Pomona, California and now it's time to start our long 3 month winters rest.

We made an early 2nd round exit after a red light start ended our day in the Stocker. However, we managed to qualify #6.

Joe is working hard to get his Comp car back in action for the 2011 season. The guys at RWR Racing Engines are hard at work as well to finish the Comp motor in time.

On a final note we would like to congratulate Amanda Mozeris on her 2010 Jr dragster Track Championship at Speedworld Dragstrip! She finished off the year by qualifying #1 when she cut a perfect light (.000) and won the race and her first "Wally"!!

Vegas

We're back from Las Vegas! Kayla qualified 17th in the 115 car field for Stock. We ended the last division race of the year with a quarter final finish by making it down to the last 8 cars! We head to "The Finals" in Pomona, Ca on Wednesday to wrap up the year!
